Finally... the winner is the E72

I've got a new mobile phone and a new contract with Vodafone

Nokia E72, my new "smart" phone

Some months ago I wrote a post (Request for your oppinions: E63 or E71?) about which mobile phone should be the replacement for my old 6120-classic. The options were both the E63 and the E71 from Nokia. In that post I explained why I don't like the current (at that time) Android-based options in the market and why I wouldn't buy one of those devices.

Of course a lot of things have changed since that post, and I think the Android community is getting larger, bigger, stronger, which is a good thing (imho), but I don't think it is the time for me to switch to one of the newest-and-powerful Android-powered devices (like the HTC Desire or the Nexus One from Google). Those are great devices, and them being Linux-based is really really nice, but I'll wait some more time before getting into that world.

So, what I'm going to do?, I needed a new mobile phone for quite some time now (the 6120 is suffering some serious battery problems) and last monday I found a great solution, Vodafone offered me a Nokia E72, I only had to pay 60 euro + 1800 points from my customer account. I didn't hesitate, nor even for a single second. The E72 is even better than the two options I had in mind (E63 and E71) and the price is... what could I say?.

I'll receive the phone in 8-10 days (hopefully) and I'll have one of the best mobiles phones from one of the best suites/sagas of smartphones from Nokia. Ok, it is not Android-based, it is not linux-powered and it does not have the android market or the itunes store but I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot (Even more now I've a new contract with vodafone and unlimited Internet access in the phone).

The quick list of apps to install in the phone could be:

Anyone could recommend more apps?

Great! Congrats on the new phone!

Some more apps to consider:

- mLock (An app that does nothing but lock the keyboard. With this you can set this up on any key and lock the keyboard with just one key pressed. I use "long press" on the calendar key for this.)
- Sports Tracker to create GPS tracks of your (bike|car|walking) tripps.
- Wellness Tracker to keep track of your workouts
- Buzzer to boil eggs and cook spaghetti on time
- OTPGen to generate OTP / skey passwords

Hey betabug!, thnx for the addons for the list of interesting software. The only I don't find very useful is the Buzzer to boil eggs and cook spaghetti, but I'll try it!

Thnx!
